  • Special Event Security Guard Positions
  • Salary: $10.00 to $15.00 per hour (depending on assignment and availability)

  • Special Services Group North America LLC is currently hiring security guards for special events throughout the summer. Security guards will have the opportunity to work in special events such as hotel conventions, concerts, sporting events, local boxing and MMA Fights, weddings and a number of other activities. Most events are held on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and some holidays. As a result, security officers must be available to work weekends and holidays. Security officers will have the choice of picking which events they want to work.

  • Security Guard Duties Include:
  • – Providing a visible presence to deter criminal activity at client locations
  • – Monitor property and report suspicious activity
  • – Providing an outstanding customer service while ensuring the security and safety of people and property
  • – Promoting positive client relations by interacting with client and public in a professional manner at all times
  • – Respond to security related incidents at designated locations
  • – Observe and report suspicious activities or incidents taking place
  • – Completing written incident reports as necessary
  • Position Requirements:
  • – Valid Class “D” security officer license as required by state statutes
  • – Valid Class “D” and “G” licenses for armed positions as required by state statutes
  • – Strong communication skills
  • – Ability to communicate in English fluently (Verbal & Written)
  • – M-ust have dependable transportation
  • – Must abide by and follow uniform and grooming standards; to include being well groomed and sharply dressed (in designated uniform) to provide a professional presence while on duty.  No visible tattoos, earrings or body-piercings for males and only one pair of small-size earrings for females with no visible body-piercing
  • – Effective interpersonal skills in order to deal with guests and public in a professional manner
  • – Ability to work in a group environment, follow directions and elicit cooperation when needed, in a professional manner
  • Serve where needed and provide support to other team members throughout facilities at various posts; including but not limited to gate-posts, guest screening areas, performing screening procedures with metal detectors and bag searches when appropriate, work at barricades, perform foot-patrols (roving), providing directions to guests as requested, providing locker-room security and supervision, and conducting contraband searches when appropriate
  • – Protect person and property as directed, and respond to conflicts including arguments, fights; and when necessary and legally justifiable, detain suspects with the minimum level of force needed until law enforcement arrives
  • Notify Police, Fire Department & Emergency Medical Services if requested or warranted
  • Respond to emergencies, including assisting with facility evacuations and crowd control
  • Utilize phones and two-way radios as needed
  • Use guard-post check equipment when directed
  • Provide lunch-breaks and/ or relief to other event staff as directed
  • Providing briefing to team members upon their arrival or return when required or directed
  • Work Shifts on holidays and/or weekends
  • Work night events that may extend later in the evening than other types of jobs
  • Deal with disorderly or intoxicated guests
  • Walk up and down stairs and/or stand in one place for long periods of time
  • Work outside in the heat/cold and rainy weather, depending upon your assignment
  • Accept an assigned post, which may not give you a view of the event, show or game
  • Abide to dress code for all events
  • Physical Requirements:
  • – This position is a sensitive security position
  • – You must be able to stand and walk for prolonged 8 hours
  • – You must be able to use both hands to grip and hold at least 20 lbs
  • – Personal safety and the safety of others require that security officers have good vision. As a result, security officers must have good 20/20 binocular (both eyes open) vision, or at least 20/40 or better binocular vision corrected with lenses/contacts to 20/20 on both eyes
  • – Safety or self and others depends of the ability of the security officer to identify threats, people and colors in daylight, low-light and at night in narrow and in wide fields. As a result, security officers must have good peripheral and low-light vision, and be able to distinguish colors fast and accurately in all lighting conditions
  • – Good hearing; being able to listen and understand speech (instructions and conversations) in noisy environments, and be able to identify the origin (location) of sounds is imperative for officer’s safety and the safety of the people they protect
  • -Be in good health with no conditions that would restrict your ability to respond to and handle emergency situations
  • -Persons who are currently taking any medication which could impair judgment or reflexes (even if they are over-the-counter or prescribed by a doctor) are not able to work in the capacity of a Security Officer while taking or under the influence of such drugs or medication. This includes but is not limited to some allergy medication and all Opiate categorized drugs.
  • Qualification:
  • – Must be 18 years old or older
  • – Must have a valid Florida Class “D” Security Officer License
  • – Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment and random criminal background check & maintain a clear criminal history while employed
  • – Must have reliable transportation
  • – Must follow all state requirements to acquire and retain a Security Officer License
  • – Must be able to pass a pre-employment and random drug screening and be able to work free of any drugs that may alter your mindset, mood or perception; that may slow your reaction time, or can cause drowsiness while on duty.  This includes prescription & over the counter medication.

RELIABILITY AND PUNCTUALITY ARE A ESSENTIAL

  • State of Florida Security Officer Licenses:  We have employment opportunities for security guards available on a regular basis. We encourage you to submit your resume to us once you receive your Class “D” license or your temporary card. The initial licensing process takes one week. Security officer license applicants must complete 40 hours of  state approved training at a state approved class “DI” Security Officer School, after which the applicant must submit a completed “Security Officer License Application” along with the required licensing fees, certificate of training, photograph and finger prints.
